Dorothy Judith Goodbaudy Eagle

Mom was born September 2, 1943 in Sacramento CA. Mom was the oldest child. The family grew and she had three younger brothers, Bob, Jim and Bill. Mom was a smart little girl. Once she had started crawling, she loved going into the kitchen and pulling out the pots and pans and spreading them all over the floor. Grandma couldn’t make her understand no, so she put hooks on the cabinet doors. The next time Mom crawled in she found the hooks! She fiddled a little bit and got the hooks open and looked at Grandma and said “Ha ha… Ma Ma.!”

Mom started school at Sylvan School near Roseville CA. Then the family moved to a ranch near Chico and she attended a one room schoolhouse. Later they moved into Chico and she attended school there for a few years.

The family moved to southern California where she attended Fullerton Union High School. She spent some time in the school choir. Her younger brothers went to the newly completed Sunny Hills High School. During this time her family got an electric organ and lessons for everyone. Mom was the best at her lessons and one of her favorite songs was “Don’t fence me in” (Now she has no fences) ☺

She married David Vrablic in 1960 and had 2 daughters, June and Dawn. She lived in southern California in various cities working in various jobs, generally in hospital administration. She later lost a 2 month-old son, Michael to SIDS.

After divorce, Mom’s family continued to grow when she married John Phillip Townes Sr. and they had Julie, John and Scott.

That marriage ended and Mom moved to Tulsa Oklahoma with her children. She was a Unit Secretary at Saint Francis Hospital and often worked double shifts. While she lived in Tulsa some LDS missionaries found her and she was baptized.

About 1980 she moved to Utah with her kids. Later she married Lee Eagle. They bought a house in Cedar Fort and that was her home for 20 years. She loved living there! Mom was very loving and had many good friendships wherever she went.

She had a way of making friends with her neighbors and was blessed to have some great ones. In Cedar Fort, Steve and Lucille were always there. They loved and helped her…sometimes rescued her! Once, when Dawn was visiting Mom they were home alone. They watched a snake slither into the house under the screen door and up into the wall! They were both terrified and had to call Steve to come rescue them.

Mom loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She always had a smile, and always offered help if she could. She loved being Grandma and grew very close to Colton and Hunter who lived nearby. Mom & Lee got to baby-sit often.

While she was in Cedar Fort, she coordinated care for, and spent time when she could with her brother, Bob during the final stages of his life. He was in a care center in American Fork. She worked from home doing medical transcription for many years, and was sought after as she could understand the doctors with tough accents and the terminology came easily to her.

She was active in the church and enjoyed being with other members everywhere she lived.

Mom always kept an upbeat attitude in spite of her Parkinson’s and other health issues. She loved to read. Sometimes she and her daughter June would read the same book, then talk about it as they read.

Her husband Lee passed away and she sold the house in Utah and moved to Boise near her Daughter, Dawn, and then to a small town in Oklahoma to be near her Daughter, Julie.

Her Bishop in Oklahoma said of her, “She is the toughest frail old lady I’ve ever known.” He also said she has a strong unwavering testimony of the Gospel.

On November 19 she tested positive for Covid/pneumonia and was hospitalized a few days later. While she was in the hospital she suffered a stroke and her body lost the fight to recover. Mom went to her heavenly home on December 12, 2020.

She will be laid to rest in Cedar Fort, Utah next to her husband Lee Eagle.

She leaves behind a legacy of family and friends including 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is still deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, Utah.  A viewing will be held at the Mortuary one hour prior to the service.  Interment, Cedar Fort Cemetery.
