JOE ELLYN McALLISTER HIX, 1940 ~ 2008
Joey Hix, age 67, owner of Floor Decor floor coverings died in her home in Huntington Beach on Saturday, March 29, 2008, with her loved ones by her side following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 1, 1940 in Sewickley, PA to the late Mildred Louise Lewis and John Edward McAlister. After the family moved out West to California in the early 1950s, she attended and graduated from Fullerton Union High School. In the early 1970s she and her husband began building a successful floor coverings business and Joey continued to manage the business after his death in 1990 until 2005 when she was diagnosed.
Joey traveled all over the world, loved opera and was a voracious reader. She was a beautiful person, both inside and out and will be dearly missed.  Joey is survived by her son, Michael, and his partner, Bryan Rogers; granddaughter, Bronwyn and all her friends.
