Charles Hass - Class Of 1953 VIEW PROFILE

Charles Phillip Henry Hass, 1935 ~ 2016

Charles Hass, the last surviving child to Rudolf Hass, creator of the HASS AVOCADO, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2016. Charles was born to Rudolf and Elizabeth Hass in 1935. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Foster in 1953, shortly after graduation from Fullerton High School. Charles graduated from Loyola University and later obtained his CPA license. They moved their family to Westlake Village in 1968 and lived there until 2012. Charles is survived by his sons, Jeff (Nancy) and Ed (Maryanne); daughters, Judy Dee and Mary (Gary) Goldstone; grandchildren, Scott (Jill) Hass, Megan (Mick) Harlan, TJ (Samantha) Dee, Tim (Caryn) Hass, Michael (Jaime) Hass, Cody (Kimmy) Dee, Ashley (Matthew) Thomason, Tammy Dee (soon betrothed to Steve Kreft), Garrett and Danielle Goldstone; and seven great grandchildren. Charles began his career at Ernst & Ernst, before moving onto Controller/CFO positions at Anthony Pools, Northrup, Vinnell and Xontech. He was always proud of his family heritage and that his father, a postman by trade and farmer by hobby, grew and patented the rough, black-skinned avocado which now accounts for almost 90% of the world's avocados. The family would especially like to give their blessing to the staff of Royal Gardens residential care facility in Camarillo. There is no way we can express our gratitude for their care and companionship to our father and our family.
The family would appreciate that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Charles and Shirley Hass's honor to the Alzheimer's Association , 1528 Chapala, Suite 204, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.
