Cheryl Cynthia Johnson - Class Of 1953 VIEW PROFILE

November 20, 1934 - September 16, 2017

Cheryl Cynthia Johnson passed away peacefully after a courageous battle against cancer. She was devoted wife of Robert Martin Johnson, cherished mother of Matthew Martin Johnson, loving grandmother of Grayce and Blake and eight godchildren, beloved sister of Wayne Collins and his wife Alice, and beloved cousin of Ken, and his wife Jeanette, and Steve Knott of Anaheim, California. Cheryl was raised in Southern California and moved to San Francisco where she was a gifted grade school teacher. She is godmother to several of her students' children. In 1971 Cheryl and her husband Bob relocated to New York City. Cheryl was a lover of opera and was active in the Puccini Foundation. She was very active in the Carl Schurz Park Association and the Plymouth Camps in Plymouth, Vermont. Cheryl and Bob were particularly active in the Salt Ash Mountain Camp, which their son Matt attended. Cheryl will be dearly missed by her many friends and family. All who knew her adored her for her unerring graciousness, intelligence and insightfulness, bringing light and love to so many lives. We mourn this tremendous loss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Calvary Hospital and/or Mary Manning Walsh 1740 Eastchester Rd., Bronx, NY 10461. Funeral services private, and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
