Kenny was one of my two best friends growing up in Fullerton, back in the 1950s. So many memories of him and his family. Mr. Blair was an 'over the road' tanker truck driver. Mrs. Blair, was a "stay at home" wife and an awesome mother to all 4 of her children: Patsy, Kenneth, Paulette, and sad to say I'm unable at present to remember the youngest sons name. Mr. Blair was a funny man and taught Kenny how to keep his car running! Oh yes, Mrs. Blair made the very best "fried balognia" sandwiches.
At F.U.H.S.; Patsy, was I believe 2 years ahead of Kenny. Kenny, was class of 57, and 4 years after him was Paulette, class of 61.. Patsy married Dale Morgan (Dewey's oldest brother). Kenny married "the love of his life" Judy ? who was from Orange. After I joined the Navy in 1958 thru 1966, I lost track of Kenny and Judy. Was ab le to locate them many years later, (80s or more likely the 90s) Last time Kenny and I talked was when I called him. He and Judy were living in, if my memory serves me correct, Phoenix, Arizona.
There were actually 5 of us that pretty much hung around together during the 50s at F.U.H.S. Kenny (the oldest and he had a drivers license plus a 1948 Ford 4 door), Dewey Morgan, Michael Kahl, Pete Wadsworth, and myself. It was Kenny that helped get me my job at Disneyland shortly after they opened. He and I both worked at Aunt Jamima's Pancake House: Kenny was a dishwasher, and I was a cook. He and I also worked at the Wilshire Theater as (sometime) ushers, more full time making the necessary changes each time a new movie was coming the next day: which was on Wednesday nights right after the one night a week Spanish movies were shown, that same night we changed everything back to English for Thrusday, Friday, and Saturday. Then Saturday night, for the new English movies featured on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Next, started a new cycle...
Like all of us, back in those days, we truly lived the Happy Days, for a teenager. Surely, as all of you know we each could write a book on just those beautiful years. Some ideas: the Bean Hut, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the little "mom and pop" hamburger place right on the corner across from the School Auditorium, of course the one and only Hillside Drive-In. Once more: cannot forget any/all the Dive-In Movie Theaters!!!
Thank for reading. Please share any memories you have of The Blair or The Morgan families. Please, Be Safe and "keep Smiling"
Just completed searching and found Kenny's youngest brother: Vernon Blair. Sadly, I also discovered that Vernon died in 2017, according to a posting furnished by Paulette (Blair) Haupton. If anyone knows of how one could locate information on Patsy, or Paulette, I would be so very grateful.
