2/24/1911 - 10/25/2014
FUHS CLASS OF 1928
A longtime resident of Fullerton, Lois Shell passed away on Oct. 25, 2014, in her home at the age of 103. Lois was a former elementary school teacher in Fullerton and moved to town with her family in 1918 at age 7. Her father, Arthur Shell, was a well known real estate businessman with Will and Howard Irwin, and later with his own firm in Fullerton. Lois spent her adolescent years in Fullerton's local schools. She graduated from UCLA. For the next 40 years, she and her sister Mildred worked as full-time teachers in Fullerton, before retiring. Lois continued her love for teaching by tutoring children. In retirement, Lois and her sister Mildred Shell traveled the world extensively. Lois also enjoyed the many years of her active volunteering with the Republic Party. She spoke often how much she enjoyed politics.
Over the course of a lifetime, Lois has profoundly affected many people. Her impact will continue for generations. She enlightened, encouraged and inspired thousands of students during her career as a Fullerton Public School Teacher and being a friend to many. Lois attributes her longevity to believing "Live within the positive and let the negative go". She is survived by her niece, Alicia Shell Parks.
