Charles (Chuck) Robert West - Class Of 1979 VIEW PROFILE

Charles "Chuck" Robert West
1/30/1961 - 5/7/2017

Chuck's passing was unexpected. A beloved son. He was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Wayne, PA where he was an active competitive swimmer until 1973 when the family moved to Fullerton, CA. Chuck graduated from Fullerton Union High School in 1979. He briefly attended Cal State Fullerton. Active in the Youth Soccer League, his team enjoyed a trip to Germany to play teams in several German cities while staying with German families. He was employed by Wells Fargo security services and Round Table Pizza. His involvement with the Boy Scouts instilled a lifelong love for wilderness and backpack camping which he did so at every opportunity. He was happiest when he could roam alone for days on end in the High Sierras or Desert Wilderness. He left behind hundreds of photos of mountains, lakes, trees and trails that now allow us the privilege of enjoying what he saw through his eyes. Never married, he was predeceased by his mother Bobbie West. Survived by his father Reed West, brother William (wife Sharon) and other family. Interment was at Loma Vista Memorial Park, Fullerton.
"May your spirit now roam forever free in the High Sierras." - with love, your Family.

Even though I didn’t know Chuck well, I’m sad about this.  I had a huge crush on him starting back in junior high at Wilshire and all throughout high school.  For the past 40 years, I would think about him from time to time.  I, too, have spent a lot of time in the Sierras – even to this day.  Next time I’m out on the trail, I’ll remember you Chuck.
