David S. Watson - Class Of 1962 VIEW PROFILE

FUHS Class of 1962

David Watson died. I received a call from Tim Watson (David Watson's youngest brother) who told me that David passed away the evening of May 7 from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.  He had been declining from it since Nov. 2017, and was at Brookdale assisted living in Yorba Linda for the last several months with his wife Liz.  The family is making funeral arrangements today.
> Dave and I have been friends since 3rd grade at Raymond Elementary.  As seniors, we both were on Mr. Redfern's FUHS math team that placed 3rd in the state.
> Dave was also concerned about me spiritually when I wasn't so concerned myself.  He invited me to Youth for Christ meetings in high school, and then to his youth group when we were both studying engineering at UCLA.  But finally, before I graduated, I did decide to follow Christ.  Later, when my wife Miriam and I went out as missionaries to South America, Dave encouraged us and followed our work until we retired in 2016.  On the field, we stayed in contact with the Watsons by mail or phone, sometimes staying with them when we were on furlough.

> I really miss Dave.  He was a caring, helpful, and humble person who lived his faith.  He is a model for me for living out the rest of my days here.

I remember Dave from the class of 1962.  He was a fine young man that went to the Evangelical Free Church in Fullerton.  A church that my father-in-law was the pastor of,  Dave was one of the most humble, smartest young men that you could ever hope to meet.  He definitly loved the Lord(much different than many of us did at that time).  What a witness he was to many.
