Diane was a trailblazer for women in agriculture. She was encouraged by her mother to attending Fullerton Union High School for their Vocational Agriculture Program and became one of the first women to be in the program. She pursued her agriculture career and was a huge promotor of Shorthorn cattle and youth AG programs such as FFA and 4-H.
