Mrs. Jean Louise (Wood) Krueger, June 22, 1934 — Dec. 8, 2015 Jean Louise (Wood) Krueger was born in La Habra, Orange County, California, on June 22, 1934, the daughter of Malcolm Oliver Wood and Hilda Hayes Wood of Fullerton, Orange County, California. Jean’s great-grandfather was Oliver Lent, who came across the plains in a covered wagon on the Oregon Trail and settled in what is now known as the Lents area of Portland. In the early 1900s part of the family moved to the Fullerton, California, area. Jean spent her childhood in Fullerton, attending elementary and high school in the Fullerton schools, graduating in 1952. She continued her education at San Jose State College in San Jose, California, where she obtained her California Elementary Teaching Credentials in 1956, and started her teaching career in the Sunnyvale, California, schools teaching music. It was at San Jose State that she met her future husband, Al Krueger, whom she married on Aug. 18, 1957 at Capilla de San Antonio in Anaheim, California. The couple spent their first year of marriage in Sunnyvale. Jean and Al moved to Sonora, Tuolumne County, California, in 1958, where Al taught elementary music at Jamestown Elementary School. Their daughter, Rhondda, was born in 1959. For the next four years, Jean worked as a substitute teacher in Tuolumne County schools. In 1962, Jean and Al moved to Pacific Grove, Monterey County, California, where she continued substituting in the Pacific Grove schools. In 1963 she and Al moved back to Sonora, where Al was hired to teach music at Columbia Elementary School. In 1965, Jean decided to go back to full-time teaching and was hired by Jamestown Elementary School, where she remained until her retirement in 1993. Al and Jean shared time between Sonora, California, and Seaside, Oregon, until the summer of 2008, when they moved permanently to Seaside. In the Sonora area, Jean and Al were active in the First Presbyterian Church (Church of the 49ers) in Columbia Historic State Park. In Seaside, they were active in North Coast Family Fellowship. On Dec. 8, 2015, Jean passed away in her home in Seaside, Oregon, at 81 years, 5 months. Jean is survived by Al Krueger, her husband of 58 years; daughter Rhondda Landreth (Patrick); granddaughter Rebecca Lohman (Michael) and their children Maddison, Jeremiah, Savannah and Richael of Colusa, California; grandson Joshua Landreth (Megan) and children Aurora, Anabelle, and Addison of Silverdale, Washington; and Christopher Landreth (Megan) of Elk Grove, California. Numerous nieces and nephews reside in Northern California and southern Oregon. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary in Seaside. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at the Etna Cemetery in Etna, California. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at the North Coast Family Fellowship in Seaside, Oregon. An online guest book may be signed at www.hughes-ransom.com
